ANSU 5th Convocation Ceremony Scheduled For 5th And 6th March 2014

ANSU 5th Convocation
This is to inform all Graduands, Alumni Stakeholaders and the general public that activities for the fifth Convocation Ceremonies of Anambra State University for the Conferment of Honorary Degrees, Award of Higher Degrees, First Degrees, Diplomas and prizes to the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 graduands have been scheduled as follows:

i. Thursday 6th March 2014: Convocation Lecture.
Speaker: Prof. Chinedu Nebo OON, Honourable Minister of Power Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Venue: TETFUND Auditorium, Igbariam Campus, Anambra State University.
Time: 12noon

ii. Friday 7th March, 2014: Conferment of Honorary Degrees, Award of Higher Degrees, First Degree and Post Graduate Diplomas to Full Time and Part- Time/Week End Programme of the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 graduands.

Venue: Convocation Arena, Igbariam Campus
Time: 10am prompt

His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, CON, Governor of Anambra State and Visitor to the University will be the Special Guest of Honour.

Hiring of Convocation Gowns:

Graduands are expected to collect their convocation gowns at their respective faculties on payment of the sum offive thousand naira (5,000.00) only. This amount covers the costs for hiring of the gowns, Alumni fees and purchase of the order of proceedings. Issuance of gowns will commence on Monday March 3, 2014 in the respective Faculty Offices. The hired gowns must be returned in good condition soon after the ceremonies, but not later than 5th of march 2014. Late return of the gown/cap shall attract a penalty .

UNIPORT Sets Record, Wins NUGA for the Fifth Consecutive Time



The University of Port-Harcourt has won the Nigerian Universities Game for the fifth consecutive time.

The 24th edition of NUGA, which was hosted by Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, started on February 12 and ended on Saturday.

While UNIPORT came first, University of Lagos, UNILAG took second position and host OAU emerged third.

UNIPORT won with 63 gold medals, 41 silvers, and 16 bronze making a total of 120 medals.

Coming second position, UNILAG had 13 goals, nine silver and 15 bronze which sums up to 30 medals.

Host OAU, which lost slightly to UNILAG with a medal had 36 medals from 12 gold medals, nine silvers, and 15 bronze.

ASUTECH, EBSU, TASUED, UNIUYO jointly took the 38th position with one bronze each.

Meanwhile, the football final between OAU and University of Calabar ended 1-0 in favor of the OAU.

Also, University of Jos defeated University of Lagos in a keenly contested match that ended in extra time. UNIJOS defeated UNILAG by 3-1 in the match.

FUTO 2013/2014 Matriculation Ceremony Scheduled For Feb. 22nd

The management of The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) annonces that on February 22nd, she will officially welcome her 2013/2014 class into the school.

The ceremony which has been scheduled to hold beginning from 10.00am, and will take event in the school Convocation ground, opposite Senate Building.

Students, Parents, well-wishers of admitted students are invited.

University of Ibadan postpones 2013 convocation

This is to inform the general public that the University of Ibadan (UI) Convocation and 65th Foundation Day Ceremonies has been postponed indefinitely due to the on-going ASUU strike. Below is the publication as published by the School
Due to the industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) causing a disruption of the academic calendar, the 2013 Convocation and 65th Foundation Day Ceremonies of the University Of Ibadan earlier scheduled to hold from Friday, 15 to Monday, 18 November, 2013 have been postponed till further notice.
However, to commemorate the 65th Foundation Day, there will be a Jumat Service at the University Of Ibadan Central Mosque on Friday, 15 November, 2013 at 2.00pm and a Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of the Resurrection on Sunday 17 November, 2013 at 10:00am.
The University Management regrets the inconvenience this postponement may cause.

FULOKOJA freshers orientation starts on October 21

The management of the Federal University of Lokoja congratulates all her newly admitted 100 level students into the school's 2013/2014 academic session.
The orientation programme which is targeted at enlightening the freshers with the DOs & DON'Ts of the institution is scheduled to take place between October 21 - 26.

First Bank Nigeria supports UNILORIN 29th convocation with N5m

The First Bank of Nigeria Ltd. has donated a sum of N5 million to the University of Ilorin towards the success of its forthcoming 29th Founder's Day and Convocation Ceremonies.
Presenting the cheque for the amount to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, last Friday (October 4, 2013) on behalf of the bank's management, the Group Head, Public Sector, Mr. Babatunde Salami, said that the bank was “happy to be a major partner in the success of the annual Convocation of the University and we would always be willing to support the University in her landmark and developmental projects towards the development of the institution as we are currently doing in other institutions.”
Mr. Salami thanked the University management for allowing the bank to render financial services to the institution, saying, “We believe that this symbiotic partnership will engender excellent financial services to the entire University community.
He however disclosed that First Bank was seeking further partnership with the University in developmental projects such as infrastructure and welfare loan for staff mortgage financing.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali, thanked the bank for consistently supporting the University, saying,“You are always the first to call on us and offer support especially during our Convocations. You have been and continue to be a good friend of the University. We appreciate what you have given to us.”
Assuring the bank that the money would be properly utilised, Prof. Ambali commended the proposed mortgage finance package put in place by the bank, noting that the University places high premium on staff welfare.
Other members of the bank's team that visited the Vice-Chancellor were: Mrs. Abimbola B. Olanipekun, Mr. Faleye A. Shola, and Mr. Gegele Abdullahi.
With the Vice-Chancellor to receive the team were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Yisa Fakunle; a member of the University Governing Council, Prof. Y. A. Quadri; the Chairman of the Ceremonials Committee, Prof. J. O. Atteh; the Bursar, Mr. Abiodun Saka Yusuf; the Librarian, Dr. J. O. Omoniyi; the Director of Works, Mr. M. S. Sanni; the Deputy Bursar, Mr. B. O. Badmus; and the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.
