UDOSOK: 2013/2014 Postgraduate Application Procedures

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Full-Time/Part-Time
Postgraduate Programmes in the Postgraduate School, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto for the
2014/2015 Academic Session.

1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(a) Postgraduate Diploma

The following may qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma admission:
(i) Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized institutions.

(ii) Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) (not HD) with a minimum of Lower Credit
pass or its equivalent in relevant areas.

(iii) In special cases, holders of HND with minimum of Lower Credit pass in non- related
areas may be admitted after passing such tests as may be prescribed by the
Departments/Faculties.

(iv) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above which are acceptable to the
Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.

(v) In addition to (i) - (iv) above, a candidate must satisfy the University's minimum
requirement(s) for matriculation.
(b) Masters' Degree (Academic and Professional)

The following may qualify for the Masters Degree admission:
(i) Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized institutions who have
obtained the approved degree of Bachelor with at least second-class division or its
equivalent, or candidates with University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma
of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized University with at least a credit
level pass.

(ii) Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with average of "C" or 50% or above. Such
candidates may be subjected to qualifying tests. 2

(iii) Candidates with only Bachelors degree in Third Class division and a relevant
Postgraduate Diploma.

(iv) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable
to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.

(v) Candidates may be required to pass examination set by departments to which they are
seeking admission to determine their suitability for postgraduate work.

(vi) In addition to (i) -(v) above, a candidate must satisfy the University's requirements for
matriculation

(c) Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.)
The following may qualify for Master of I Philosophy admission:
(i) Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University or other recognized institutions who have
obtained a Masters degree with a minimum GPA of less than 3.0 on a 4-point scale or
less than 4.0 on 5-point scale.

(ii) Holders of a Masters degree in a cognate discipline with a GPA of 4.0 and above.

(iii) Candidates with a degree of Professional Masters with at least a Bachelors degree.

(iv) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable
to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.

(v) In addition to (i) - (iv) above, a candidate must satisfy the university's requirements for
matriculation.

(d) Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The following may qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:
(i) Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and other recognized institutions who have
obtained good Masters Degree with a GPA of not less than 4.0 on a 5-point scale or 3.0
on a 4-point scale appropriate to the proposed areas of study.

(ii) Candidates with the Degree of Professional Masters with at least a Bachelor's Degree may
qualify for admission provided that they satisfy the condition in (i) above.

(iii) Graduates of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and other recognized institutions who have
obtained Masters of Philosophy degree appropriate to the proposed areas of study. 3

(iv) In addition to (i), (ii) and (iii) above candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree
in Second Class lower division.

(v) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above acceptable to the Board of
Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.

(vi) In addition to (i) - (v) above, a candidate must satisfy the University's requirements for matriculation.

NOTE: (a) Holders of Higher Diploma (HD) are NOT recognized for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes of the

Kwara State University Best Graduating Student Receives Cheque of N1.6m


Ameen Mohammed Tukur who was named the best graduating student of Kwara State University for 2012/2013 session has been presented a cheque of N1.65m (one million, six hundred and fifty thousand naira) by the kwara state government.

According to Alhaji Abdukwahab Aliyu Opakunle who presented the cheque on behalf of the state government stated that this is a deliberate effort by the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed administration to encourage excellent students in the state who distinguish themselves, in their chosen academic career.

In his response, Ameen Mohammed Tukur expressed his appreciation to the Kwara State Government, the management of KWASU and his presents who have contributed in no small measure to the success of his programme.

ABUAD: Information and Requirements for Fresh and Returning Students 2014/2015 Session


Placement into Degree Programmes is based on performance at the UTME and the post-UTME screening, satisfaction of the O’Level requirements of individual courses, and the number of spaces available in the particular programme.

2. RESUMPTION AND REGISTRATION

The 2014/2015 Academic Session commences as follows;

Fresh Undergraduates
College of Law: Friday 19th September, 2014

College of Medicine and Health Sciences: Friday 19th September, 2014

College of Engineering: Saturday, 20th September, 2014

College of Sciences: Saturday, 20th September, 2014

College of Social and Management Sciences: Monday, 22nd September, 2014

Returning Undergraduates
Wednesday, 24th September, 2014 -College of Law and College of Medicine and Health Sciences

Thursday, 25th September, 2014 – College of Sciences and College of Engineering

Friday, 26th September, 2014 – College of Social and Management Sciences

3. EACH FRESH UNDERGRADUATE IS EXPECTED TO PRESENT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS AT THE POINT OF SCREENING:

i.Provisional Admission Letter

ii.Bank Draft of School Fees in favour of Afe Babalola University.

iii.Birth certificate

iv.Current UTME Result

v.O/L Result – Colleges of Law, and Medicine and Surgery would accept Five O’ Level Credits (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results at one (1) sitting only.

For other Programmes, Five O’ Level Credits (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results at one sitting or Six Credit Passes at not more than Two Sittings are acceptable.

vi.20 copies of passport photographs.

vii.A letter of undertaking by the Candidate’s parent/sponsor, and a letter of guarantee by a Christian Clergy or Muslim Cleric, with their telephone number guaranteeing good behaviour and compliance with the University’s rules and regulations.

viii.A sworn affidavit by the student giving information about his/her name, address and name of parents in a High Court of Justice is required at the point of Registration.

ix.The original copies of the candidate’s credentials will be sighted while photocopies will be submitted.

4. PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES
Fresh Undergraduates who are offered Provisional Admission are expected to purchase bank drafts for payment of school fees from any accredited bank in favour of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti.(Details of school fees for 2014/2015 Academic Session are available on the University Website).

NOTE: Students will NOT be allowed to operate Bank accounts with any other BANK.

6. MODE OF DRESSING

Afe Babalola University places heavy premium on the appearance of the Staff (male and female) as well as the Students (male and female) within and outside the University.

The following dress codes are prescribed;

College of Law: Black and White. Trousers are not allowed for Female Law Students.

College of Medicine and Health Sciences: All shades of Red and Pink on matching colours.

College of Engineering: All shades of green on matching colours.

College of Sciences: All shades of cream on matching colours.

College of Social and Management Sciences: All shades of Blue on matching colours.

Laboratory Wears:

College of Medicine and Health Sciences: White Overall

College of Sciences: White Overall

College of Engineering: Blue Overall

b. All Students are mandated to

i. abide by the dress colour codes

ii. dress formally during school hours 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

iii. put on the ABUAD tie (Males) and scarves (Females) during school hours.

iv. jeans are not allowed during school hours.

7. STUDENTS ON MEDICATION
It is pertinent for Parents to disclose their ward’s health status. Chronic, genetic or other long term ailments must be carefully monitored by medical personnel to assist Students achieve best academic and overall results. Therefore, Parents are enjoined to cooperate with the University Management in this regard.

8. HALLS OF RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS


The following are the minimum required items that a Student may need during his/her stay in the Hall of Residence:

UNIBEN: Application for Admission into School of Graduate Studies 2014/2015 session


Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters degree and Ph.D in the various Faculties/Schools/Institutes of the University of Benin.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

I. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the university of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) A credit pass in Maths and English is required.

II. Four credits of Ordinary level plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes.

III. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Masters programmes.

IV. Candidates who obtained Masters degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil programme in the first instance.

V. A candidate applying for the Ph.D in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a weighted average score of 60% or letter grade ‘B’ average in the Masters degree.

VI. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% or letter grade ‘B’.

Transcripts:

Candidates should request their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication.

Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

Referees Reports:

Candidates should request their referees to mail reports on them directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications shall not be processed unless the referee reports are available.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Candidates are to purchase application forms online with valid VERVE OR MASTER ATM BANK CARD from any commercial bank in Nigeria for the sum of N12,050.00

The Application form must be correctly filled with all information required before submitting online and thereafter printed out from the UNIBEN Website, www.uniben.edu

On the UNIBEN website;

1 Click on the WAEUP PORTAL LINK.

2 Click on the POSTGRADUATE APPLICATION FOR 2014/2015.

3 Click on REGISTER FOR APPLICATION after reading instructions on the page.

The following documents will be printed out from the Website:- application, referee, and Transcript request forms. Any form not properly filled will not be treated.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Only candidate given admission into the various PG programmes are to proceed to pay the total amount of Non-Refundable Acceptance fees itemised below.

Bank/Portal Charges – 3,000.00

Admission clearance – 20,000.00

ICT Levy – 6,000.00

Development levy – 15,000.00

MTN Net Library – 1,000.00

Total – 45,000.00

Note: Acceptance fee must be paid before candidates can be cleared.

IMSU: Pre-Degree Admission Application 2014/2015 session


Application for admission into the Imo State University Pre-degree Programme for 2014/2015 has commenced

METHOD OF APPLICATION:
(1) Obtain a registration card containing your application PIN Code from any branch of any of the following banks in Owerri, Imo State: IMSU Microfinance Bank, Zenith Bank for the payment of N6200.00 Application Fee to the cashier.

(2) Create your Application Account on this portal.

(3) Login to your Application Account using your username and password.

(4) Fill correctly all required information on the Application form.

(6) Submit each application stage on completion before proceeding to the next stage.

(7) Verify and print your fully completed application form.

(8) Take your application form to the screening centre as registration evidence.

Scratch cards from unauthorised vendors or previous transaction cannot be used to start this application process. Please purchase your card only from specified point of sale.

University of Ibadan Releases 1st batch Admission list for 2014/2015 session


The 2014/2015 University of Ibadan Admission list is now available online on the schools webiste for candidates who sat for UI’s screening exercise.

Following the approval of the 1st batch list of successful candidates by JAMB, the underlisted candidates have been offered PROVISIONAL ADMISSION in their Course of choice below is the admission list as it appeared on the institutions website.

UNN Payment of Acceptance Fee Procedure


Just got admission into UNN? Below is a step by step procedure on how you can go about payment of acceptance fee at the institution.

1. First, go to UNN portal, to generate a unique payment invoice which will bear your invoice number, click on undergraduate acceptance fee.

By the left, you will see rectangular boxes where you are required to key in your registration number and confirm registration number again. After that, click on create invoice to show you how much you are paying for acceptance fee and then print it out. The same procedure is also involved in shopping for supplementary form. The only difference is that you will click on undergraduate shopping form for those who want to purchase supplementary form.

2. Secondly, take the form you printed out to the banks you are asked to go or go to any bank that has UNN e-tranzact platform in their system (Any bank can do this), it must not be UBA or Zenith bank. Fill the teller and use your invoice number as the account number and make the payment in the bank.

The bank will in return give you a paper containing your payment/confirmation order usually 23-25 digits.

3. Take this confirmation order you get from the bank and go back to UNN portal again and open the portal. By the right you will see where you are required to key in the confirmation order and invoice number, do so and the e-tranzact will verify your details, click on "continue" to confirm your payment.

The system will show you where you will fill your details and update your profile after which you will be able to print out your admission slip showing that you have accepted the admission that you have been offered.

For those going for supplementary form, you will follow same procedure but click on undergraduate shopping form. When you get to No 3, after verification of details by e-tranzact, click on continue to see the homepage that contains your pume details and where to select the course/department you want to shop into.
