According to a reliable source, some transporters, traders and others who provide services on university campuses have lamented the negative impact of the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, three months ago.
The affected traders said that the strike was not favorable to their businesses, adding that the strike had reduced their sales and income, which they’re using to feed their families.
According to our source, when the following schools;
University of Lagos, Lagos State,
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State,
Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, were visited, it was
observed that activities in the universities was almost at a zero point.
Shops, where photocopies and printing works were made, were closed.
Few shops that were open operated their services at a high cost.
We just hope that both parties (asuu and Federal government) are aware of the situation they are creating, it’s not only affecting the students or their parents, but traders, transporters and the Nigerian Economy.
